The Patterdale Centre is a spacious, multi-functional facility with modern, renovated amenities. It provides separate dormitory areas for students and staff, as well as communal spaces where staff can supervise activities while allowing students a sense of independence. The centre has Wi-Fi available for staff use and to support learning, though students typically do not have access. There is little access to mobile data service in the area. However, staff will be able to contact you if necessary.

For security, Patterdale employs the same entry systems as Delta schools, ensuring that students cannot enter or leave the building without a visit leader’s permission. The grounds are secure, with CCTV in operation, and the building is equipped with a modern fire alarm system.

Sleeping arrangements are flexible, allowing group leaders to adjust room configurations as needed, making it easy to reassign rooms if necessary.

All guests at the centre are provided with bed linens and towels, professionally cleaned by an external linen service, so there’s no need to bring towels from home – although you are welcome to do so if you prefer.

The centre is located in the scenic town of Patterdale, surrounded by hills, peaks, and rivers. There are nearby shops, cafes, and homes, yet the area remains peaceful. Due to the Lake District’s weather, students are likely to encounter rain, even in summer. Activities continue in all but severe weather, so we strongly recommend bringing suitable walking boots. Packing a bin liner to separate wet or dirty clothes when heading home is also advisable. For convenience, the centre has drying rooms where wet clothing and footwear from activities can be stored before packing.

If you have questions about the centre, please contact the visit leader at your child’s school.
