Since April 2024, Delta Academies Trust has been the proud owner of the Patterdale centre, designed to inspire and empower students through immersive outdoor education.

Located in an awe-inspiring natural setting, the centre provides Delta students with affordable access to a range of unique and challenging residential experiences that promote growth both physically and emotionally.

With a mission to create exceptional educational experiences, Delta Academies Trust is actively enhancing the centre’s facilities to enrich the learning journey and offer increased capacity.

The Patterdale Centre renovation includes: the addition of a classroom; in-house catering; a self-service breakfast counter; a ‘Generation Juice’ station (a feature used within our academies).

There will be facilities for making packed lunches, alongside improved dining amenities.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we’re heavily insulating flat roofs and adding a sedum (green) roof for energy efficiency and environmental harmony. These renovations are undertaken with the utmost care to preserve and complement the natural beauty surrounding the centre.

Future plans for the grounds include an amphitheatre for gathering around the campfire, a campsite, large telescopes, and a potential observatory to spark students’ curiosity. In the gardens, a nut orchard will be planted to help support the local red squirrel population, allowing students to observe and connect with local wildlife.

Inside the centre, every accommodation space will be fully furnished with new furniture. We’re adding new corridors, drying rooms, and expanded storage space for outdoor gear, all supporting up to 100 beds. This means more students can experience everything Patterdale has to offer, with up to 6 permanent staff members on-site to guide them.
