St Wilfrid’s Students Achieve Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award at Dallowgill

Students from St Wilfrid’s Academy have successfully completed their Bronze The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) following a three-day residential at the Trust’s outdoor education centre, Dallowgill Outdoor Education Centre in North Yorkshire.

The trip brought together Year 10 and Year 11 students for a challenging and rewarding experience in the outdoors. For many, it was their first time spending nights away from home and family. Some had previously missed out on trips due to concerns about behaviour, but throughout the residential the group showed kindness, compassion, teamwork and resilience.

Across the three days, students supported one another through new challenges, built confidence and embraced the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones. The experience was filled with moments of determination, laughter and achievement, as every student successfully completed their Bronze DofE qualification.

The residential highlighted what can happen when young people are given the chance to challenge themselves, develop independence and realise what they are capable of achieving.
